Hands-On, Competency-Based Training
Learn by doing in demonstration farms, greenhouses, dairy & poultry units, soil/water labs, post-harvest and mechanization workshops.
Bukalasa Agricultural College is a public tertially training institution operated and administered under the Uganda Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF). It is situated 50 km north of Kampala; it was established by the then Colonial Government in 1929 as a cotton breeding centre. It has since then metamorphosed into an agricultural training college with a strong reputation of training front line agricultural extension workers as well as a home to many household names of academicians, administrators, researchers, and impeccable leaders.
“Learning by doing since 1920 — our fields, laboratories and workshops are classrooms where Bukalasa students turn theory into practice.”
Bukalasa Agricultural College provides purpose-built learning spaces that mirror real sector environments — from crop demonstration fields to fully equipped livestock units and modern ICT labs — so our students graduate ready for work and entrepreneurship.
Hands-on crop production in open fields and protected structures: seedbed prep, nursery management, horticulture, agroforestry and Good Agricultural Practices.
Beef and dairy herds, small ruminants and poultry units with a functional milking parlour — practicals in animal husbandry, health, breeding and value addition.
Soil testing, irrigation water quality, feed analysis and post-harvest handling: students learn to diagnose problems and recommend evidence-based solutions.
Tractors, planters, small engines and pressurized irrigation kits for repair, calibration and safe operation skills.
Since 1920, BAC has trained practical agricultural professionals for Uganda and the region. Our competency-based teaching blends classroom learning with real work on fields, in livestock units, laboratories and workshops—so you graduate job-ready and enterprise-ready.
